Carbon Capture Scotland rebrands as The Carbon Removers

Carbon Capture Scotland, a biogenic carbon management specialist, has rebranded as “The Carbon Removers.”.  Co-founder and CTO Ed Nimmons explains “Whilst we have deep roots in Scotland, we are currently expanding overseas, and wanted a name that reflected that international dimension as well as our focus on carbon removal.”

The Carbon Removers specialize in capturing, removing, and sequestering biogenic carbon, primarily working with fermentation industries like whisky distilling. In 2024, the company secured a contract worth over £10M with the Danish government for permanent removal and storage of biogenic CO2 , spearheading their expansion into Scandinavia.

CEO Richard Nimmons highlights the team’s practical approach: “Our real-world experience in offshore platforms, distilling, and carbon storage drives our action-oriented ethos. That’s why we liked the new name – we do what it says on the tin!”.

The rebranding coincides with accelerated momentum for the company, with the recent announcement of a new deal with British Airways to purchase their biogenic carbon removal credits.

The Carbon Removers partnered with The Climate Agency to develop their new identity and website.
