At The Carbon Removers, we’re not just talking about carbon removal, we’re out there doing it, right now. Meet Raphael Pfaeltzer, one of the people making it happen.
So, who are you?
I’m Raphael. I’m German, but there’s a fair bit of Denmark and Scotland in me too. I speak Danish, my wife’s Danish, and I’ve lived there. Professionally, I started in management consulting with BCG before moving into carbon storage with Storegga.
Something people don’t know about you?
I still play rugby, despite my “advanced” age. And, of course, I support Scotland. Richie Gray is my favourite player.
Why did you join The Carbon Removers?
Honestly? Many carbon removal projects are still at the drawings stage. Then I met Ed and Richard Nimmons, and they were actually doing it. Real machines you could touch, real impact. That’s what convinced me.
What impact do you think The Carbon Removers could have in five years?
By then, we’ll have removed hundreds of thousands of tons of CO₂. Carbon that would still be in the atmosphere if we didn’t exist. But just as important, we’ll have driven real learning in this industry. There are things you can’t solve on paper. You only figure them out by actually doing the work, over and over. Every challenge we tackle, every problem we solve, helps move carbon removal forward for everyone.
