Meet The Team – Sanjay Parekh, Chief Commercial Officer

At The Carbon Removers, we’re building real infrastructure to take carbon out of the atmosphere today, supporting companies on the road to Net Zero. Meet Sanjay Parekh, our Chief Commercial Officer.

Who are you? How would you describe yourself?

I’m the Chief Commercial Officer at The Carbon Removers, responsible for monetising the CDR revenue stream within the company. Before this, I was Managing Director for Engineered Carbon Removals at Storegga. I’ve also been a two-time tech founder and entrepreneur, with exits behind me.

Could you tell us one thing people don’t necessarily know about you?

You might not expect it, but I’m a big fan of Stoic philosophy. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is always nearby. One quote I always come back to is:
“You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realise this, and you will find strength.”

How did you arrive at The Carbon Removers?

I first got to know Richard and Ed when I was exploring potential partnerships for Storegga. I really liked their “can do” culture. They had serious ambition, talking not in thousands but in millions of tonnes of CO₂ removed, with a credible plan to get there. That’s what made me want to join.

What do you think The Carbon Removers could achieve in five years?

We should be pushing a million tons a year. But even more importantly, we’ll be proving that carbon removal can work as part of the economic landscape.
We’ve already brought big corporate players into the space, e.g.British Airways, Auto Trader and major retail  banks. They chose us because we’re removing carbon today. And they like how tangible our process is: the CO₂ comes from distilleries and farms, and you can visit our capture units and storage sites.

Proving this model works commercially is key.

If we can show that, we’ll encourage others to join and that’s when the impact really starts to multiply. Great if we can remove a million tonnes a year, but if there are 10 companies like ours, that starts to move the needle on Net Zero and climate targets.
