London, December 8th 2025 – The Carbon Removers, a Scottish climate innovation company, is pioneering high-quality, reliable methods to permanently remove and geologically store carbon dioxide from industrial and waste processes. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using scalable, verifiable, and sustainable methods. And they are already doing it now, in the UK.
Working with OCO Technology under the Puro.earth Standard, The Carbon Removers captures and permanently stores biogenic CO₂ in building aggregates, ensuring immediate and durable climate impact. Based on the “Carbonated Materials” methodology, verified by Puro.earth, a leading registry for engineered carbon removal, CORC’s (Carbon Dioxide Removal Certificates) are generated. These CORCs represent real, verified tonnes of CO2 removed from the atmosphere and stored for centuries, offering businesses a credible way to meet net-zero commitments. These projects are rigorously assessed under Puro.earth’s methodologies, ensuring transparency, permanence, and additionality. Through this evaluation process and its reliable technology, The Carbon Removers are able to consistently issue high-quality CORCs.
NatWest Pilots Carbon Removal with CORC Purchase
As part of exploring different ways to sequester carbon and to meet its Net Zero offsetting commitment, NatWest Group has purchased 500 CORCs from The Carbon Removers as part of an experimental pilot to explore the role of durable carbon removal in its carbon credit strategy. This move signals growing interest in supporting high-quality carbon removal projects, and testing innovative approaches to climate action by exploring and learning more about emerging climate solutions and helping to build the market for verified, long-term carbon removal.
This initiative supports NatWest Group’s broader purpose to win with its customers through supporting innovative, tech-based carbon removal solutions, the initiative also reflects the bank’s exploration of how tech-based carbon credits can drive tangible climate action and foster new opportunities for sustainable finance.
Milap Mishra, Climate Solutions Lead at NatWest says: “The CO2 removal certificates from The Carbon Removers present an exciting and scalable way of capturing carbon from industrial or commercial processes and combining it with waste from incinerators to create geologically stable carbonated materials.”
Sanjay Parekh, Chief Commercial Officer at The Carbon Removers, added: “We are proud to collaborate with NatWest Group in enabling real, verified permanent carbon removals. This initiative showcases the vital role that responsible organisations can play in advancing the carbon removal markets.”
As the demand for durable carbon removal grows, The Carbon Removers continue to expand their portfolio, engage with local communities, and contribute to the UK’s climate resilience. Their work exemplifies the potential of nature-based solutions to deliver real climate impact, backed by science and transparency.

About The Carbon Removers
The Carbon Removers is a carbon removal company dedicated to engineered carbon removals, focusing on permanent storage solutions for biogenic CO₂. Founded by brothers Richard and Ed Nimmons, the company provides decarbonisation solutions to combat climate change, by capturing and permanently storing CO2 through mineralisation technologies and geological storage. In early 2026, they will launch Europe’s first large-scale CO₂ storage facility in the Danish North Sea, capable of permanently storing 50,000 tonnes per year.
